More about Donald Edwin Georger
Born in Chicago Ill he Graduated from Loyola University and joined the Navy and was a Lt.jg during WWII. He participated in the Pacific campaign and the captain of LST-962 at Guam and Saipan. After returning from the war, he contacted his uncle Howard in Buffalo and was offered a job at the Bicycle wholesaler his uncle began in 1937. In 1947, he proposed to Mary Jean Wolfe and they were married on December 29, 1948 in Chicago and moved to Buffalo. Howard W. Georger died early in 1948 and Donald came to work for Genevieve who took over for her brother Howard. In 1951 Genevieve died and Donald was in charge of the company. In 1955 Robert H. Georger came to Buffalo from Chicago and joined the company along with their older sister Dorothy M..Georger in 1957.The company sold primarily bicycles in the ’50’s but also sold trains and toys. Schwinn became their main line and they committed to being a Schwinn Distributor in 1963. By 1965 they had outgrown their building downtown located at 45 Pearl street and made plans to move to the suburbs. Unfortunately Donald never saw these plans to completion and he died in November 1965. The company was dropped by Schwinn in 1968 and was fully fazed out by 1971. During the summers Anne worked at the company as did Christopher. When Anne graduated from Marygrove college in Detroit in 1971 she came to work in the bicycle business. Christopher graduated in 1973 from Gannon college and also began working in sales at the Howard W. Georger Company. In 1981 John joined the company after completing his studies at SUNY Brockport. Dorothy retired in 1984 and Maureen started in 1986 after graduating from Geneseo. Kathleen also graduated from Geneseo (1974) as did Mary Lintner (Christopher). In 1990 the Georger family sold their company to GT Bicycles and was renamed Riteway Products East and at this point Robert Georger retired. His daughter Mary worked for the company for some summers and also after college until the sale (1985-1990). The new company grew rapidly and became the east coast distribution point for GT Bicycles. GT went public in October 1995 (GTBX) and was bought off the NASDAQ market in 1998 by Schwinn Bicycle and Fitness Co. In calendar year 1998 Riteway products East shipped over $41 million dollars of Bicycle products to Independent Bicycle Dealers. Riteway Products East was closed in a restructuring process in October 1999 and Schwinn Bicycle and Fitness declared bankruptcy July 16, 2001.

George Kinney graduated from the University of Notre Dame in November, 1943, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the research staff of Lewis Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio, from 1943 to 1960. The Lewis research center was lab of the NACA which became NASA in 1958. It has been the function of the Lewis center to conduct research on propulsion systems for aircraft and space vehicles.
For two years, he was engaged in research to investigate factors influencing lead-fouling of spark plugs in aircraft engines and authored several reports published on the results.
In 1945, he began experimental research with liquid propellant rocket engines. He conducted early investigations of thrust chamber cooling, injector design, and the merits of various propellants.
From 1954 to 1957, he was project engineer for design and construction of a high-energy propellant test facility for large rocket engines at the Lewis Center. After completion of this facility in 1957, he was section head in charge of experimental research on new high-energy rocket propellents for three years. Much of this work was with the combination hydrogen-oxygen which has since been selected for use with many of our advanced rocket vehicles.
In 1961, he became Manger of Research Staffing for the Lewis Center. In this capacity, he planned and coordinated recruiting for talents in the fields of engineering and the physical sciences.
In 1968, he became an engineer in the Office of Technology Utilization. He was engaged in the transfer of aerospace technology to other areas of our national economy.

Hello All, April 29, 2000
Just wanted to inform you that Marlene presented us with our first grandson at 1:51 A.M. today at University Hospital in Cleveland. George Robert Kinney weighed 7 lb 13.6 oz. and was 19 in. long at birth. His father described him as “perfect”. All involved, including the grandparents, are doing well.
The birth was about 2 weeks earlier than expected. On Monday of this week, during her weekly visit to the doctor, Marlene’s blood pressure was higher than it should be. Her doctor, fearing a possibility of preeclampsia, ordered her to the hospital to have the birth induced.She was admitted to the hospital at 12:01 A.M. on April 28 (Thursday) and the inducing started 6:00 A.M. She was in labor all of yesterday morning, afternoon and evening. And, finally, the birth had to be by C Section which was performed early this morning.
We talked to Marlene earlier this morning and she was all right but sort of tired. She had already nursed the baby and we heard him cry. Tom is also tired, he was awake most of the day and night. He would call us during the day (yesterday) with updates but was unable to report on any birth until he called at 6:40 this morning. (We had asked for no calls between midnight and 6:30 a.m.)
Marlene will be in the hospital for a few days, probably will be discharged Monday.
